First Interview: After contacting me, you and I can decide on a place to meet and see if we are a good match. It is also a time where you can ask any questions you like about me and the birth process that you have concerns about. This is a no-cost appointment with no obligations of a contract. I do recommend that you interview at least two or three doulas in your search for the best fit at your birth.
2 Prenatal Visits: We will discuss your birth wishes and fears you may have, then become aquinted with the details of your pregnancy and determine the levels of involement you would like me to have. We will also talk about what the limits of a doula are. This is also a chance to ask any question of me and to look through my doula bag to see what supplies I bring to the birth. On the second visit we will go over ways to get through labor with positioning, relaxation techniques and any other wishes. I also love to see the nursery. I can go over simple tactics and supplies that are nice to have when the new baby comes home.
Continous Birth Support: I will be at your house or hospital whenever the time comes and be with you non-stop until a few hours after you welcome the new child and you have breastfed with ease and are feeling like you are ready for me to leave.
Postpartum Visit: This is a chance to see how the new family is doing. I would also like to know of the new mothers feelings about how the birth went. I will be there to support the new parents in any way with nursing andnewborn care.. I will also make a birth story and a outline of how the birth went from my point of view. You always tend to forget parts of your own birth story.
Continous Phone and Email support through out the contracted time: I am always available to answer any kind of questions throughout our contracted time together. I will respond to e-mail, text and any phone calls as soon as possible, any time of the day.
Back-up Doulas: I do have two back- up doulas that will help if I need it. If I am gone, sick, or I need a refreshed doula during a long labor, they will be there for you and me. If you would like to meet them I can make arragments for that during a pre-natal appt. My back-ups are Felicia Russell and Debi Lane, they are both Certified D.O.N.A. birth doulas.
Fees: I am currently certified through Doulas of North America. (D.O.N.A.) My birth doula fee is $600.00; the first half is paid at the first prenatal, along with a signed contract and the later half is to be paid at the post-natal appointment. I always work on a sliding scale if you find this fee is out of your price range.
