Happy Birthday Anders!
Jana and Mike Kopp JUNE 2011
"Lisa attended the birth of our son, Anders, and was such a great help! I had a long labor and Lisa really went above and beyond, putting in the effort to make sure I had the best birth possible. We planned on having a natural childbirth but after I went past my due date and then found out my fluid levels were very low, the doctor wanted to induce me. Lisa came over even before I went to the hospital to talk to me about this change of plans and my fears of seeing my hoped-for birth fly out the window. I was not dilated at all so Lisa knew she was in for the haul coming this early but even though my labor went on for 30 hours from when they started the induction, she was full of good humor, helpful advice, and the wisdom of experience. She was such a comfort during the entire labor. During the first 16 hours when I labored without any pain medication, she helped with lots of techniques for pain management, massage, and so on. When I finally threw in the towel and got an epidural, she opened a whole new bag of tricks for ways to keep me comfortable and help me progress despite my lack of mobility. Throughout the whole experience she was gracious, patient, serious when necessary, and lighthearded when the situation called for it. She helped my husband, too, by letting him take breaks and giving him tips about ways he could help out. She was such a great help, and I can't imagine having gone through birth without her".

Happy Birthday Brendan!
Michaela and Craig Aiken JULY 2011
" My husband and I decided to hire Lisa when I was 30 weeks pregnant with my first child. From the moment we met her, she provided me support for my pregnancy. She made sure to check in with my after each doctors appointment I had and made sure to explain anything to me that I was unsure of. Lisa was also someone I could call or e-mail to express my concerns, fears and excitement with. At 36 weeks my baby was measuring large, my doctor decided we'd do weekly ultrasounds to keep and eye on him. At my 38 week appointment, Brendan was still measuring very large and my OB was concerned that I would not be able to have a vaginal birth if we were to wait for me to go into labor on my own. After my husband and I discussed the options together I called Lisa. She was very supportive of my decision to be induced at 39 weeks. Lisa met us at the hospital on the morning my induction was scheduled. While being prepped for the induction the room had a very laid back feel as we watched the morning news and joked around. Lisa made sure to keep me as comfortable as possible. When my contractions were finally strong enough that I could feel them, Lisa really went to work. She made suggestion for comfort measures for me and coached my husband so he could provide me as much direct support as possible. She even made sure to hand him snacks throughout so that he stayed well nourished and full of
energy! When it came time to push it was so great to have my husband on one side and Lisa on the other encouraging me. When Brendan was born he was taken from me rather quickly because the cord ended up around his neck. This was the point where I realized just how valuable it was to have Lisa by my side. My husband went to the other side of the room with Brendan and the nurses while Lisa stayed by my side. She made sure to keep me calm and to keep me updated on the status of my son. Lisa stayed to help me nurse my son, and even fed me my first meal since I was using both hands to hold him! Following the birth of Brendan, Lisa maintained contact and visited us about 2 weeks after we came home. I look forward to working with Lisa when we decide to have our second child. "

Welcome Lennox!
Holly Allen JULY 2011
I met Lisa exactly one week before I went into labor July, 2011. I am a single mother and was very blessed to have Lisa attend my labor and baby's birth. WhenI met Lisa we went over a birthing plan and she shared helpful information to help me prepare for what to expect and what our options were for natural pain relief and coping skills. Lisa came to my home in the middle of the night, put up electric candles and soothing music while I got into the warm tub. Later we walked around and she encouraged me to drink fluids after each contraction which was a great help. She helped rock me, held me and squeezed my hips with a rebozo during each contraction. After arriving at the hospital I became very
emotional and she held me and soothed me through it. After arriving at the hospital I was in another state of awareness due to the labor and she made sure that my wishes of soft lighting and music were upheld. There is no way I could have asked for this and achieved it in the state I was in if I were alone. And at the end of my labor when I was in a lot of pain, she helped me achieve birth without any medication at all, even though I was having second thoughts and for this I am very grateful. Giving birth to my first son Lennox, was extremely special. Without Lisa my labor would have been completely different. It would have been more painful, more lonely, and I would have most defiantly gotten an epidural. She was kind, motherly, energetic and encouraging. I loved the noises she helped me make to cope with the pain. I loved it when she fanned my face and let me squeeze her hand. She held my leg as my baby was pushed out of my body. What she did for me is not expressible in words. I am forever forever grateful to Lisa to have helped me achieve labor naturally and with the support of knowledgeable and compassionate women at my side. Truly amazing.

A beautiful Summer Gift!
When my husband and I meet with Lisa we had already meet with 2-3 other potential Doula's. I was even getting ready to meet another later that day. My husband clicked with her, and so did I. She was very knowledged in VBAC's and was confident in my abilities which lead me to feel just as confident. So confident that I knew I could do this VBAC with no pain med's!! My EDD came and went, which the big joke was that he was going to come early but he showed us! At 42 wks we opted to induce and Lisa was there right from the beginning. My labor was about 49 hours long! Lisa was there the entire time. Coaching me and doing it all. She pulled out all the stops, and while I was very withdrawn into myself she was amazing! Every stop she pulled really helped!! When it
came time to make an important decision during the birth process she was great to remind me of my birth plan and give my husband and I time to talk about it. Idon't know what I would've done without her. I'm sure I could've done it without her, but I couldn't have imagined it without her. Lisa truly made the
experience one I will always remember and be thankful for her outstanding support, knowledge and patience. Lisa is truly amazing!! I hope to aspire to be a great doula like her. ~ M. C.
